On 19th September 2021 four CCB archers made the trip up to Huntingdon to shoot the Jolly Archers’ Open Western Competition.

CCB at Oxford Team Challenge

On Sunday the 29th August two CCB compounders, Lydia and Jack, entered the Oxford Archer’s Mixed Team Challenge. This competition is a rare event presenting an opportunity to shoot the World Archery mixed team format which sees a team of two archers, one female, one male, shoot head-to-head knockouts against other teams. The Return to Downing!

Well club, long time, no website post!

After a very disrupted year, in so many ways, and our brief sabbatical at Girton, CCB has officially returned to our home of Downing College Sports Ground. Although our first session was pretty chilly and windy, it was great to see some archers back on the field at last – here’s hoping we manage another year with fewer interruptions. [read]

CCB starts shooting!

Well, it’s been a while since the website had an update! Like most things, CCB got put on hold by the pandemic. Then our ground made the decision to stay closed for all of summer, making us temporarily homeless. Some shooting was provided through the kindness and generosity of Peacock Archers, for which we are very grateful. [read]

Indoor Nationals 2019

On 1st December, four CCB archers celebrated the beginning of advent by getting up early and heading over to Stoneleigh in Warwickshire for the AGB Indoor National Champs. Anke Hanneman was shooting recurve, with Jacks Kelly and Atkinson in Gents Compound and Lydia Sinnett-Smith in Ladies Compound. [read]

Ely Portsmouth shoot

On 16th November, five CCB archers shot the Ely Double Portsmouth. We had one compound (Jack Atkinson) and four recurves – Anke Hanneman, Richard Brasher, Fran Nichols and Eser Takmaz. Anke and Jack both earned individual bronze medals in the double, and the recurve team placed fourth for the single Portsmouth competition

End of season tournament report

National Tour and Meriden

Over the 7th/8th September weekend, Lydia Sinnett-Smith was down in Basingstoke for the final leg of the National Tour. [read]

EFAA National Outdoor Championships

On the weekend of 31 Aug – 1 Sept two club members attended the EFAA National Outdoor Championships held at Kings Forest Bowmen in Sussex.

Tina Beckman opted to shoot a recurve bow for this event, competing in the AFFSR class and representing her field club Kings Forest Bowmen, whilst new member Jack Atkinson was shooting compound in the AMFU class as a direct entry. [read]

East Anglian Archery Championships

Did you know there was an East Anglian Archery Association- we didn’t. Turns out there is and their annual championship shoot took place at Framlingham Bowmen on Sunday 18th.

It was one of those English summer days where we had all weathers, hot sun, high wind and torrential rain. [read]
