On 1st December, four CCB archers celebrated the beginning of advent by getting up early and heading over to Stoneleigh in Warwickshire for the AGB Indoor National Champs. Anke Hanneman was shooting recurve, with Jacks Kelly and Atkinson in Gents Compound and Lydia Sinnett-Smith in Ladies Compound.
Anke shot a strong first half, ranked 37th after 30 arrows, but sadly couldn’t keep up the momentum and finished in 50th. Jack Atkinson managed almost the reverse, with a strong second half which saw him finish in 49th. Jack Kelly finished in 59th, after also shooting the Back2Back the day before.
Lydia Sinnett-Smith had the most success of the day, ranking 28th and therefore making the cut for the head to heads in the afternoon. In her first match, she took on Susan Corless of the GB team (the 5th seed); after four ends, the match was tied on 111 each, and Lydia took the win 140 to 139. In the 1/8th round, Lydia came up against Izzy Carpenter, also a GB archer, and after keeping the match tied up almost the whole way through, lost out 140 to 142.
The support crew (Tina Beckmann and Patrick Sinnett-Smith) also had a successful day – with new limbs for Tina and a new target and release aid for Patrick!
Well done to everyone who shot, you did the club proud.
