Town vs Gown Success

On Sunday 20th May CCB emerged victorious in the annual Town vs Gown recurve match, winning by a small margin, the compound team also won, largely because the University side didn’t field any compounds. Similarly in the Barebow competition, the University were clear winners and only competitors.

The match took place on a splendid summer day. Thanks to all who took part, to those who brought cake and especially to Huw, our Captain who organised the event.

The Town vs Gown completion, for the Joshua Taylor Cup started in 1952 with Cambridge University Bowmen taking on CCB. Initially it was an individual competition. The match fell into abeyance in 2000. In 2017, largely due to the efforts of the CUB club captain, Jack Atkinson, it was revived, as a team competition. The trophy is awarded to the team with the best 3 recurve scores.
